Katharine Broton (kmbroton@wisc.edu) is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology and a member of the Wisconsin HOPE Lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is interested in educational inequalities, with a focus on higher education. Her current research examines experiences of poverty among college students.

Sara Goldrick-Rab (srab@education.wisc.edu) is a professor of educational policy studies and sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and founding director of the Wisconsin HOPE Lab, a translational research laboratory aimed at fi nding effective ways to make college more affordable.
